This ring started with dots of black and dots of clear laid down on the bead release, then coated over with clear, then mille added; the mille were dragged into weird shapes with a rake. You can see on the inside of the ring some of the vagaries of the inner surface: the mandrels tend to vent some gases through the release, making little craters which then cause irregularity in the glass surface that touches them. I should say in passing that it is next to impossible to get these darned rings off the mandrels -- I despaired of doing so more than once, but persistence paid off at last.
This ring might have been more attractive if the mille hadn't overcooked a bit. It's very hard to control the shape and appearance of the ring as it forms -- more practise needed.
