It would be really nice to get an even width on these rings. Even thickness I am slowly approaching (it's hard to keep the whole thing hot with my small torch) but I have never yet got one with parallel sides! It all has to do with the glass grabbing the release aggressively as I try to spin the top-heavy mandrel. I just don't have it down yet. This one is Czech alexandrite (palest lavender) with a swirl of black/red/cream/gold running through it. Like all these rings it's a bit overcooked -- a lot of heat is needed to keep the oversized mandrel and glass hot.
